Customer Benefits
At D.light, we believe our products bring tangible life-changing benefits to
our customers by improving their income, education, health and environment.
D.light's first priority is to replace every kerosene lantern with clean, safe and bright light. Customers who purchase D.light lamps will experience the following benefits:
Cost savings
D.light lamps can completely eliminate the need for kerosene lamps in households. The cost savings for customers can be significant, as families may spend 5 — 30% of their monthly income on kerosene oil.

For a typical farmer or shopkeeper, D.light products will pay for themselves in as little as six months.
Income generation
The bright and reliable light from our products supports income-generating activities such as farming and retail. United Nations Development Program studies demonstrate that families with improved lighting have up to a 30% increase in income due to increased productivity at night.

D.light customers have reported an increase in monthly income by as much as 50% from the extended workday.

Better study environment
The poor light quality and noxious fumes of kerosene lanterns hinder children's ability to study effectively. D.light lamps are bright enough to facilitate longer and more effective studying hours, which directly lead to increased learning and higher test scores.

D.light customers share how their children, who previously studied less than one hour per night, are now able to study four hours or more per evening with a D.light lamp.

Healthy and safe homes
Kerosene lamps are a key contributor to indoor air pollution, which claim the lives of 1.5 million people each year, over half of which are under the age of five (Millenium Development Goals Report 2007). Kerosene lamps have also caused countless deaths by suffocation, burns and fatal fires.

D.light lamps are extremely safe and use super-bright LEDs that do not emit any pollutants.
Reduction in carbon emissions
According to the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratories (LBNL), the primary source of greenhouse gas emissions in the developing world comes from hazardous and expensive fuel-based sources such as kerosene. It is estimated that a single kerosene lamp emits 1 ton of CO2 over a lifetime of 5 years. Every year, kerosene lamps are responsible for over 100 million tons of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.

Every D.light lamp purchased can completely replace one or more kerosene lamps, effectively reducing global carbon emissions on the scale of tens of thousands of tons.
